Frequently Asked Questions

  • Counseling can be a transformative experience if you’re feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or in need of support. It’s especially beneficial if you're experiencing anxiety, trauma, fertility challenges, or relationship issues. If you’re seeking a safe space to explore your thoughts, feelings, and personal challenges and desire to grow into your fullest self, then counseling may be a great step forward. Our work together can help you address limiting beliefs, improve your relationships, and support you in achieving the goals that matter most to you.

  • In our sessions, you can expect a compassionate, non-judgmental environment where we explore your concerns at a pace that feels right for you. I use a blend of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, mindfulness, and solution-focused techniques to guide you toward meaningful change. Each session is collaborative, and we’ll work together to create a treatment plan that aligns with your goals. For those seeking fertility support, relationship counseling, or help with anxiety and trauma, we offer specialized sessions that are tailored to your unique needs.

  • The length of therapy varies depending on your goals and challenges. Some clients find that a few months of consistent sessions lead to significant progress, while others may choose to continue therapy longer to explore deeper issues or maintain support. Typically, sessions are 50 minutes, but for those looking for quicker results, we offer 90-minute sessions on a limited basis.

  • It is within your right to decline a diagnosis. Diagnoses are only provided for purposes of submitting reimbursement claims to your healthcare insurance provider, at your request. Any diagnoses will be discussed between you and me for the purpose of treatment planning and referrals to appropriate providers. Please note, however, that if information is submitted to an insurance company, the insurance provider—not you—will determine the number of sessions and their length. Additionally, any information shared with your insurance company may be stored in the Medical Information Bureau, where it can be accessed in the future by other parties such as life insurance companies.

  • Online therapy, or distance counseling, allows us to meet through a secure video platform, providing you the flexibility to attend sessions from the comfort of your home or anywhere in New York State. Many clients find online therapy to be equally effective as in-person sessions, and it’s an excellent option for those with busy schedules or limited access to nearby counseling services. Distance counseling follows the same ethical standards and confidentiality as in-person therapy.

  • Yes, your privacy and confidentiality are of utmost importance. I adhere to strict ethical standards and New York State laws to ensure your information is protected. For online therapy, we use secure, encrypted video platforms to protect your privacy. Information shared in sessions will not be disclosed to anyone without your written consent, except in cases where we are legally obligated, such as if there’s a risk of harm to yourself or others.

  • No, I do not accept insurance for my services. This allows us to focus entirely on your needs without the restrictions often placed by insurance companies, such as session limits or dictated treatment plans. You may, however, request a superbill for potential reimbursement from your insurance provider.

  • CBT is a highly effective, evidence-based therapy that focuses on identifying and changing unhelpful thoughts and behaviors. This approach is especially helpful for managing anxiety, overcoming limiting beliefs, and healing from trauma. In our sessions, I will guide you through CBT techniques to help you gain greater control over your thoughts and emotions, empowering you to make positive changes in your life.

  • For those interested, I offer a faith-based approach that integrates Christian values with therapeutic techniques. This option is for clients who want to explore their spiritual beliefs and find healing in alignment with their faith. In these sessions, I blend Cognitive Behavioral Therapy with a Christian perspective to support you on your journey of personal growth and transformation. This is entirely optional and customized to your preferences.

  • Fertility challenges can be emotionally taxing, and I bring both personal experience and professional expertise to this area. Through a blend of CBT, mindfulness, and a focus on mindset, I offer practical tools to help you cope with the stresses of fertility treatment and strengthen your mental well-being during this journey. My approach is more hands-on, with longer sessions and individualized support to meet your unique needs.
