About us

Linda (Girimonte) Thompson, LMHC

Founder & Therapist

Linda is an experienced mental health therapist dedicated to helping her clients overcome the challenges associated with anxiety and depression. With a Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Long Island University, C.W. Post Campus plus an Advanced Certificate in Applied Behavior Analysis, she has been providing expert psychotherapy services since 2015 as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC).

Prior to her current role, Linda worked as an Applied Behavior Specialist at Developmental Disabilities Institute, where she supported individuals dealing with emotional and behavioral disorders such as Learning Disorders and Autism Spectrum Disorder. She then shifted the focus of her work to families displaced from their homes in homeless shelters, using case management strategies that helped them identify both short-term and long-term goals while also assisting them with employment opportunities and finding permanent housing solutions. With this extensive background working on behalf of people across many different age ranges plus cultural backgrounds, Linda brings unique insight into any situation for which she provides counseling services.

Linda is passionate about finding ways to empower her clients in their own personal growth. She is deeply interested in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), an evidence-based psychotherapeutic treatment helping people better understand the thoughts, feelings, and behaviors that influence them and their lives. Linda takes continuous steps forward into furthering her understanding of this therapy through expanding her knowledge at workshops, training, and seminars - all with the aim of being able to provide even more support for those seeking help along life's journey.

Linda is dedicated to helping her clients discover their true selves. Combining traditional therapies with positive psychology, mindfulness, and spirituality allows Linda's clients to rediscover personal wholeness - overcoming trauma while learning how best to manage stressors so they can thrive emotionally in life. Her ultimate goal: use self-awareness as a vehicle for transformation through healing!

Hayley Gruber, BA

Clinical Intern

Hayley Gruber is a Clinical Intern at Therapy Beyond Healing. She is in the process of receiving her Master’s Degree at Long Island University. Hayley has experience working with anxiety, depression, and substance abuse at her previous internship site, Family Service League. Hayley is passionate about working with eating disorders and other co-occurring disorders because she feels it important for everyone to feel comfortable in their own skin.

As a clinician, Hayley strives to establish an environment in which clients feel comfortable, safe, and free of judgment. Hayley believes that no one should have to work through their struggles alone. Having a safe space to tell your story is important to your healing, self-growth, and self-awareness journeys. Hayley helps clients feel heard, validated, and supported.

Hayley incorporates therapeutic techniques such as cognitive behavioral, mindfulness, person-centered, and other evidence-based approaches. She works with clients to build healthy coping skills, challenge negative thoughts, shift to a more positive thinking pattern, and overcome challenges.

Master Level Interns

We believe that training and experience are valuable in becoming a great Therapist. That is why we participate in our local Graduate Internship Programs. We will have Interns throughout the year that are available for sessions at a reduced fee.
